Namma Metro’s Yellow Line Nears Reality: BMRCL Moves Closer to Rollout with Latest Train Set Arrival

The much-awaited Yellow Line of Namma Metro is edging closer to operational status, with the latest batch of metro cars dispatched to the city. Three cars from the third train set have been successfully shipped from the Titagarh factory, and the remaining three are scheduled to arrive by May 2, 2025.

"Marking a significant milestone in the city's metro expansion, BMRCL has moved one step closer to operationalising the much-anticipated Yellow Line, with the latest batch of metro cars being dispatched to Bengaluru," the statement read.

An additional set of three metro cars is expected between May 10 and May 15, 2025.

The Yellow Line, stretching 18.82 km from RV Road to Bommasandra, aims to enhance connectivity between key areas such as BTM Layout, Central Silk Board, and Electronics City.

Despite previous delays due to train shortages and pending safety clearances, the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) is accelerating efforts to bring the Yellow Line into service. Limited operations could commence as early as June 2025, contingent on the timely arrival of additional train sets and required clearances .​

The Yellow Line will feature driverless trains equipped with a communications-based train control (CBTC) signaling system. The first trainset for this line was flagged off on January 6, 2025, from West Bengal, with subsequent trainsets arriving in the following months . BMRCL plans to operate the line with multiple trainsets to ensure efficient service upon launch.​

The Namma metro Yellow Line, connecting RV College to Bommasandra near Electronic City, is fully constructed and now awaits the commencement of operations.
