Namma Metro Rush: Majestic Metro Sees Sudden Surge, Queues Touch First Floor; BMRCL Responds
Commuters at Bengaluru's Majestic Metro Station faced significant inconvenience this morning as unexpected crowding led to long queues and confusion. The station was packed with passengers from as early as dawn, with lines stretching from the ground floor all the way to the first floor.
According to reports, a disruption in metro services caused delays and congestion, leaving passengers stranded and frustrated. The rush was so intense that there was barely any room for movement within the station premises.

Why the Sudden Overcrowding?
Under normal circumstances, metro trains depart from Majestic every six minutes. However, on Monday, trains were operating at 10-minute intervals. This change caught many off guard, leading to an unusual build-up of commuters.
The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) had assumed that footfall would be lower due to the government holiday on the occasion of Ambedkar Jayanti. Based on this assumption, the frequency of trains was reduced, which in turn triggered heavy crowding and commuter discomfort.
Emergency Measures in Place
In response to the situation, BMRCL has taken immediate steps to manage the crowd. Additional trains have been deployed to ease congestion at Majestic. Four extra trains were run from Baiyappanahalli to Majestic, while a total of seven new trips were added from Majestic, Garudacharpalya, and Whitefield stations.
BMRCL also confirmed that metro trains from ITPL will operate at regular 5-minute intervals during the evening rush to prevent further issues.
