Namma Metro Green Line Extension: Trial Phase Begins With 3 New Stations Coming Soon
The much-awaited Namma Metro Green Line extension of the Bengaluru Metro from Nagasandra to Madawara has finally started its trial run on Tuesday.
Namma Metro Green Line Stations
The 3.7-km Green Line extension of Namma Metro, from Nagasandra to Madavara in north Bangalore has three stations at Manjunath Nagar, Chikkabidarakallu (earlier Jindal Nagar) and Madavara (BIEC), and is expected to be fully operational for passengers by September-end or the first week of October.
The trial run, which will be held for a month, is part of the rigorous testing and inspection process to ensure the safety and efficiency of the new line. The Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety is planning to inspect the network around September, and the managing director of the Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has confirmed that deep cleaning work and various tests are currently underway.

However, it's worth noting that as this project is an extension line, the trains running on the Green Line will have longer intervals between them, resulting in passengers having to wait longer for their next train.
The new line will be a significant addition to the city's public transportation system, offering commuters from Nelamangala, Makali, and Madanayakanahalli and those entering the city from Tumakuru a convenient option to travel to the city center. Additionally, the new extended line will be particularly useful for those visiting the Bangalore International Exhibition Centre near Nagasandra.
The Green Line extension project has been completed at a cost of Rs 298 crore. The new line is expected to reduce congestion on the city's roads and provide a faster and more comfortable mode of transportation for commuters.
With its trial run now underway, Bengaluru Metro's Green Line extension is set to become a reality soon, bringing relief to thousands of commuters who have been eagerly waiting for this development.
