Long-Awaited Relief: Bengaluru's Double-Decker Flyovers On Namma Metro Lines Proposed To Centre
Bengaluru city may soon see the construction of new flyovers along certain stretches of Namma metro lines, as the Karnataka Government has proposed this measure to address traffic congestion in the Garden City. Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar announced on Sunday that the state government plans to build flyovers on these Namma metro line stretches to ease traffic congestion, with a proposal already sent to the Centre for approval.
The double-decker flyover is expected to ease notorious traffic congestion around Central Silk Board and enhance road connectivity between south Bengaluru and IT hubs like Whitefield. Despite being initially slated for completion in October 2021, the project has been plagued by multiple delays.

Addressing the public at the 'Government at Your Doorstep' mass grievance redressal event at Jnanabharathi, Shivakumar emphasized his government's commitment to developing Karnataka, particularly Bengaluru.
"The Chief Minister has announced several projects in the Budget for Bengaluru's development. The upcoming BBMP Budget will complement these projects. We are also preparing a feasibility report for tunnel roads near Yeshwanthpura, Sumanahalli, Goraguntepalya, among others," ANI quoted the deputy CM as saying.
"We have already conducted mass grievance redressal programs in 12 Assembly constituencies of Bengaluru city, receiving about 20,000 pleas. The Chief Minister has also conducted Janaspandana twice. A dedicated team has been formed to address these grievances, which will be addressed in a phased manner," he added.
Taking a dig at the BJP government, Shivakumar stated that while people have heard numerous promises from the BJP, they will now witness tangible progress.
"While the BJP government may have made promises, our work speaks for itself. Our guarantee schemes have reached 95% of the people, with the remaining 5% facing issues due to technical glitches. Additionally, we are planning to provide subsidies for setting up solar panels on rooftops. Our government focuses on building livelihoods rather than engaging in emotional politics. Our programs are designed to alleviate the burden of rising prices," he concluded.
