Lok Sabha Election 2024 Bengaluru: Prakash Raj And Rahul Dravid Among Early Voters
The Lok Sabha elections of 2024 are currently ongoing, with April 26 marking the Phase 2 voting day. Across 13 states and union territories, 89 constituencies are casting their votes today. The voting process commenced at 7 am and will continue until 5 pm. In the previous Phase 1 held on April 19, a total of 102 seats were contested.
The main contenders in Phase 2 are the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Congress.

Today, Karnataka is voting on 14 seats in the second phase of the Lok Sabha elections. Noteworthy candidates contesting from Bengaluru in Phase 2 include DK Suresh from Bangalore Rural, Shobha Karandlaje from Bangalore North, Tejasvi Surya from Bangalore South, and HD Kumaraswamy from Mandya.
National Award-winning actor-turned-politician Prakash Raj exercised his voting rights at a polling station in Bengaluru. He ran as an independent candidate from the Bangalore Central constituency and experienced a significant defeat in the 2019 general elections against BJP's Tejaswi Surya.
Following his vote in Bengaluru, actor Prakash Raj emphasised the significance of voting, stating, "My vote represents my right and my power to choose who represents me, who will be my voice in the Parliament... It is crucial to select a candidate whom you believe in, and I have voted for the candidate I trust and for the manifesto they have presented, aiming for change amidst the divisive politics witnessed in the last decade."
Cricket legend Rahul Dravid exercised his voting rights in Bengaluru on Friday morning, joining the early voters of the city at the Dollars Colony polling station.
Addressing reporters, Dravid expressed satisfaction with the voting process, stating, "Voting proceeded smoothly, and the procedure was straightforward. It is essential to advance our democracy, and I urge everyone to participate by casting their votes."
Dravid also anticipated a significant voter turnout in the tech hub this time around. "I anticipate higher voter participation this time in Bengaluru. With many first-time voters joining in, everyone must utilize their voting rights. If young individuals turn out and cast their ballots, it would be commendable," he remarked.
The counting of votes for the Lok Sabha election 2024 will be done on June 4 and the same day, the result will be announced.
