Live Mysuru Election Results 2024: Will The BJP’s Wadiyar Be Able To Win Over The People?
The counting of votes to begin shortly. Mysore Constituency in Karnataka is one of the Karnataka's 28 Lok Sabha seats. The Mysore Lok Sabha constituency comprises of Madikeri, Virajpet, Periyapatna, Hunasuru, Chamundeshwari, Krishnaraja, Chamaraja, and Narasimharaja assembly segments.
Since 2014, Mysore has been a BJP stronghold with Pratap Simha representing the constituency for two consecutive terms. However, this time the BJP decided to drop Simha and instead gave the ticket to Krishnadatta Wadiyar, owing to his royal legacy and strong reputation in the region.

Before 2014, Mysore had largely been a Congress bastion. From 1957 to 1996, the seat was held by the grand old party for 39 years. The BJP made its first breakthrough in Mysore in the 1998 general elections when C. H. Vijayashankar emerged victorious.
In 1999, the seat was won by Srikantadatta Narasimharaja Wadiyar, Yaduveer's late adoptive father, who contested on a Congress ticket. The BJP's C. H. Vijayashankar regained the seat in 2004 but lost it to A. H. Vishwanath of the Congress in the subsequent election.
This year, the BJP has taken the royal route by replacing sitting MP Pratap Simha and fielding Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar, the scion of the erstwhile Mysore Royal family. On the other hand, the Congress has chosen the aam aadmi approach by fielding M Lakshman, an engineer-turned-politician, as their candidate. This historic constituency will see a clash between tradition and grassroots representation.
