Live Belgaum Election Results 2024: BJP's Jagadish Shettar Leading By 43001 Votes Against Mrinal Hebbalkar
The Belgaum Lok Sabha constituency is one of the 28 parliamentary constituencies in Karnataka, falling under the General category. It encompasses a portion of the Belgaum district and includes eight Assembly segments. Currently, the BJP holds five of these segments (Arabhavi, Belgaum Uttar, Belgaum Dakshin, Saundatti Yellamma, Ramdurg), while the Congress holds three (Gokak, Belgaum Rural, Bailhongal). The constituency, also known as Belagavi, is scheduled to vote in the third phase of general elections on May 7, 2024.
The BJP has maintained a stronghold in the Belgaum constituency since 2004, with the late Suresh Angadi winning consecutively, succeeded by his wife in the 2021 by-polls. This election, however, presents a high-stakes showdown between two first-time Lok Sabha contenders. The BJP has chosen experience by nominating Jagadish Shettar, who recently rejoined the party, while the Congress is banking on youth by fielding Mrinal Hebbalkar, son of Belagavi Rural MLA Laxmi Hebbalkar.

In the 2019 parliamentary elections, Angadi Suresh Channabasappa from the BJP emerged victorious in Belgaum with a significant margin of 32.47%. He defeated Dr. Sadhunavar from the INC. The BJP and INC secured a vote share of 63.22% and 30.76% respectively. Similarly, in 2014 and 2009, Angadi Suresh Channabasappa of the BJP emerged victorious in the Belgaum constituency. The voter turnout in 2019, 2014, and 2009 stood at 67.84%, 68.22%, and 54.75% respectively.
