Liquor Ban In Bengaluru: Dry Days Expected In These Areas On September 17-18
With the ten-day Ganesh festival nearing its end, Bengaluru has imposed a temporary ban on the sale of alcohol in various parts of the city to maintain public order during Ganesh Visarjan and related festivities. Bengaluru City Police Commissioner B. Dayananda has announced that the restriction will be in effect from September 14 to 16.

Bars, restaurants, wine shops, pubs, and Mysore Sales International Limited (MSIL) outlets are affected by this ban, though establishments with CL-4 (clubs) and CL-6A (star hotels) licenses are exempt. Specifically, in East and North East Bengaluru, alcohol sales are prohibited from 6 a.m. on September 14 until 6 a.m. on September 16. Areas impacted include Commercial Street, Bharati Nagar, Shivajinagar, and Pulakeshinagar. Additionally, liquor sales in North and East Bengaluru were already restricted from 6 a.m. on September 14 to 6 a.m. on September 15 in areas like JC Nagar, RT Nagar, and Hebbal.
This precautionary measure aims to ensure the safety and security of the public during the festival's culmination.
