Lalbagh Flower Show Independence Day 2025 Theme: Massive Kittur Fort Made of Roses Set to Wow Visitors

In Bengaluru, the Lalbagh Glass House is set to host the 218th flower show from August 8 to 18, 2025. This year's theme celebrates the Kittur kingdom of north Karnataka, honouring its renowned queen, Kittur Rani Chennamma, and Krantiveera Sangolli Rayanna, the kingdom's army chief. The event will be inaugurated by Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on August 7.

Visitors can expect a stunning floral display featuring a massive fort of Kittur crafted from roses and chrysanthemums. This centrepiece will be accompanied by models of a horse-mounted Chennamma and a standing Rayanna. Additionally, the Veera Rani Kittur Chennammaji Samadhi Sthala will be recreated using flowers for this special occasion.

Floral Art and Exhibitions

The flower show will also include various exhibitions at the Horticulture Information Centre in Lalbagh. These exhibits will showcase Ikebana, vegetable carving, floral rangoli, bonsai, Dutch floral arrangements, and Thai flower art displays. The exhibitions are scheduled to open on August 9.

A vertical garden representing part of the fort will feature models of Lavani dancers, an art form popular in north Karnataka. On another side of the glass house, a depiction of Rayanna's execution by the British will be presented alongside his horse-mounted model.

Historical Displays and Visitor Expectations

M. Jagadeesh, Joint Director of Parks and Gardens at the Horticulture Department, stated that eight large outdoor screens would display historical records about Chennamma and Rayanna throughout Lalbagh. These screens will broadcast pictures, film clips, and documentaries about their lives.

The previous year's theme focused on Dr. B.R. Ambedkar's life and contributions. It attracted around 9.07 lakh visitors and generated ₹3.44 crore in revenue for the department. This year, organisers anticipate between 10 lakh to 11 lakh attendees.

Prize Distribution Ceremony

The prize distribution ceremony for various competitions held during the flower show is set for August 16 at Dr. M.H. Marigowda Memorial Hall in Lalbagh. Participants eagerly await this event as it recognises their creative efforts in different categories.

This year's Independence Day flower show promises an engaging experience with its rich historical theme and diverse floral displays. Visitors can immerse themselves in Karnataka's cultural heritage while enjoying the vibrant artistry on display at Lalbagh.
