KR Puram Foot-Over-Bridge Linking Metro And Railway Station Nears Completion

The highly anticipated Skywalk or Foot-over-Bridge (FoB) connecting the Krishnarajapuram railway station and the K.R. Pura Metro station has been completed and is already open for public use. Although the official inauguration date has not yet been confirmed, the skywalk is now accessible to commuters.

The project, which experienced several delays, has reached a significant milestone with the successful completion of deck slab at the concourse level of Namma Metro Blue Line Station. The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has finalized the remaining work, including crucial lift installations, to ensure accessibility for all.

Initially, the BMRCL had committed to completing the bridge by January. However, this deadline was missed, and a new target was set for April.

The Skywalk or Foot-over-Bridge (FoB) is designed to provide seamless intermodal connectivity by linking KR Puram Metro Station directly to KR Puram Railway Station. This major infrastructure project required coordination among multiple agencies, including the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA), Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP), and the Traffic Police.

The Skywalk or Foot-over-Bridge (FoB) is now alleviating the daily commute for thousands who cross the Outer Ring Road (ORR) in front of KR Puram Railway Station. It is expected to reduce traffic congestion at this busy junction and offers a safer, more convenient pedestrian crossing.

Local residents have expressed relief and satisfaction at the skywalk's early opening. "It's wonderful to finally have the skywalk in use. It's already making a significant difference by easing traffic and improving our commute," said a local resident.
