Kiss Delays Goodbye! Bengaluru & Hyderabad Crack Top 5 Best Airports In 2023
Hyderabad and Bengaluru airports have claimed the second and third spots in the global top ten for operational performance and punctuality, according to a 2023 report by Ciricum. The On-Time Performance (OTP) report for 2023 featured three Indian airports: Hyderabad, Bengaluru, and Kolkata.
Rajiv Gandhi International Airport claimed the second spot globally and among large airports with an OTP of 84.42%.

Kempegowda International Airport secured third place in both categories with an OTP of 84.08%. Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport led in both lists with an OTP of 84.44%.
Kolkata's Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose airport ranked ninth among medium airports with an OTP of 83.91%. In this category, Osaka International Airport in Japan secured the top spot with an OTP of 90.71%.
IndiGo, an Indian airline, featured prominently in the report, securing the fourth spot among leading airlines in Asia Pacific. It also ranked eighth in the low-cost carriers category with an OTP of 82.12%.
The report defines an on-time flight as arriving within 15 minutes of the scheduled gate arrival or departing within 15 minutes of its scheduled departure for an airport.
South Africa's Safair topped the low-cost carriers segment with an OTP of 92.36%. Meanwhile, Japan's All Nippon Airways led the Asia Pacific category with an OTP of 82.75%, followed by Japan Airlines and Thai AirAsia in the second and third positions, respectively.
However, no Indian airline made it to the most on-time global airline category, which was secured by Avianca Airlines based in Bogota, Colombia.
The report categorizes an airport as global if it has 25-40 million seats, an actual gate departure coverage of 80% or better, and serves at least three regions, including its own.
