Karnataka Weather: Hassan, Mysuru Could See Light Rain as Bengaluru Night Temperatures Climb 1–3°C

Bengaluru is experiencing an unusually warm February, with daytime temperatures nearing 30°C and nights hovering around 19°C. Many residents have already set aside hoodies and light jackets, switching instead to cotton wear, fans and longer hours of air conditioner use.

While such temperatures may not be extreme compared to other Indian cities, they feel significant for a city long known for its mild afternoons and cool breezes.

Weather Blogger Notes Inland Convergence, Rain Possibility

According to a weather blogger Vijay tracking regional patterns, an inland convergence across the Ghats of Karnataka, Kerala and south Tamil Nadu (STN) still persists.

Scattered light rains are possible across Malnad areas, including parts of Hassan and Mysuru districts.

Isolated light rain chances exist across South Interior Karnataka (SIK) and North Karnataka (NK) districts.

A few places in SIK recorded light rainfall yesterday.

The blogger also noted that night temperatures have spiked across the state, with SIK recording a steeper rise of +1°C to +3°C above normal. This increase in minimum temperatures is one of the reasons residents feel the warmth more sharply, even if daytime readings are not officially classified as severe.

From "Hoodie" to "AC Weather"

For decades, many Bengaluru households avoided installing air conditioners due to the city's naturally temperate climate. This February, however, some residents admit they are reconsidering that decision.

Social media platforms are filled with humour about the city's sudden transition - many describing it as a shift from "jacket weather to AC weather" almost overnight. Memes aside, there is also a growing conversation about whether Bengaluru's famed "perfect weather" is becoming less predictable.

Clear Skies Ahead, But Questions Remain

Forecasts indicate mostly clear to partly cloudy skies in the coming days, with temperatures gradually climbing further in early March. While meteorologists maintain that these numbers do not amount to a heatwave, the sustained warmth combined with rising night temperatures has caught residents off guard.

For now, wardrobes are shifting toward lighter fabrics, and online discussions continue with a mix of humour and concern. One thing remains clear - Bengaluru's weather reputation is being re-examined as changing patterns become more noticeable across the region.
