Karnataka Weather: Drizzles in Bengaluru, Light Rains In Southern Dists; Cold Conditions to Ease from Wedesday

Karnataka has been experiencing chilly and dry weather over the past few days, and the Meteorological Department says these conditions are likely to persist across much of the state on Monday.

While most regions will remain dry, a few districts in the southern interior may see light rain. The coastal and northern interior regions are expected to continue under the cold, dry spell.

In Bengaluru, residents can expect foggy conditions and low temperatures in the morning. Doctors have advised people, especially children and the elderly, to wear warm clothing to avoid cold-related ailments.

Where might it drizzle?

Scattered light to moderate rainfall is possible in southern interior districts including Mysuru, Shivamogga, Chikkamagaluru, Hassan, Kodagu, and Chamarajanagar.

Where will it stay dry?

Dry weather is expected to continue across the northern interior districts of Belagavi, Bidar, Vijayapura, Bagalkot, Haveri, Gadag, Dharwad, Kalaburagi, Koppal, Ballari, Raichur, Yadgir, and Vijayanagar. Coastal districts of Udupi, Dakshina Kannada, and Uttara Kannada are also likely to remain dry.

Several southern interior districts, including Kolar, Bengaluru Rural, Bengaluru Urban, Tumakuru, Chikkaballapur, Ramanagara, Mandya, Chitradurga, Davangere, and Vijayanagar, will also continue under dry conditions.

Weather blogger Vijay, who runs the popular 'Namma Karnataka Weather' account, said clouds are moving into Bengaluru from the east, bringing a cloudy day with the possibility of passing drizzle in some areas.

"The city recorded a maximum temperature of just 24.7°C on Sunday, below normal for this time of year. Cool daytime temperatures are expected again today," he noted. Vijay also advised that it may not be ideal to hang heavy clothes outdoors to dry and suggested waiting until Wednesday for better drying conditions.

Meanwhile, rainfall is expected to ease over northern Tamil Nadu, though parts of southern and western Tamil Nadu may see another day of showers. Monday is likely the last day of rainfall for Karnataka, while Kerala and adjoining areas may experience showers for an additional day.

Some locations along the Western Ghats in southern and western Tamil Nadu could receive moderate to heavy rain, as moisture from the east gets trapped due to the easterly wind pattern.

Residents are advised to stay warm and take necessary precautions, especially in the northern and interior districts where temperatures are expected to remain below normal.
