Karnataka Weather: Cold Wave Alert Issued For Karnataka As Fog Disrupts Travel

Karnataka has been enveloped in cold and foggy conditions, affecting daily routines and causing minor disruptions, especially during the mornings. The local meteorological center has announced that this weather pattern, characterized by a lack of rainfall and persistent fog, is expected to last for several days. Specifically, from December 31 to January 5, residents should not anticipate any significant change in the weather, with dry conditions prevailing across the state, including its capital, Bangalore.

The cold snap has led to a notable decrease in outdoor activity. In certain areas, residents are choosing to stay indoors, waiting for the chill to ease and the sun to break through the fog. Despite these conditions, life in Bangalore continues with its usual hustle and bustle. Morning markets are busy with sellers trading vegetables, fruits, and flowers, and vehicular traffic moves smoothly, thanks to the moderate fog not posing a serious hindrance to visibility or travel.

In terms of temperature, the state experienced its lowest readings in Gadag and Bidar, both registering 14.4 degrees Celsius. This drop in temperature is part of a broader trend where some regions, particularly the coastal and southern interior areas, have recorded temperatures above the seasonal average. The Bengaluru Meteorological Center's daily report underscores that no significant weather changes are anticipated in the southern interior districts such as Bangalore Rural, Chikkaballapur, Kolar, Tumkur, Ramanagara, Mandya, and Mysore, nor in the northern interior and coastal districts.

Looking ahead, the forecast for Bengaluru over the next 24 hours predicts clear skies from morning onwards, though foggy conditions may persist in places. The expected maximum temperature is 28 degrees Celsius, with a minimum of 18 degrees Celsius. This continuation of dry and foggy weather poses no immediate promise of rain, reinforcing the meteorological center's outlook for the region.
