Karnataka Weather Alert: Yellow And Red Alert Issued By IMD For These Regions
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a weather alert predicting heavy rainfall across various parts of Karnataka and other regions on Tuesday, September 24.
Several districts, including Uttara Kannada, Udupi, Belagavi, Vijayapura, Kalaburagi, Yadgir, Raichur, and Koppal, are likely to experience thunderstorms accompanied by heavy rain. Moderate rainfall is expected in Dakshina Kannada, while light rain with thunderstorms could affect some northern interior districts. Southern interior areas of the state are also expected to see moderate rainfall with thunderstorms.

In Bengaluru and its surrounding areas, cloudy conditions are forecasted with a chance of moderate rain.
IMD Red Alert for Konkan, Goa, and Coastal Karnataka
The IMD has issued a red alert for Konkan, Goa, and Coastal Karnataka for September 24, warning of extremely heavy rainfall. An orange alert has been declared for Madhya Maharashtra, north interior Karnataka, and Marathwada, signaling the potential for very heavy rain.
A yellow alert has been issued for other regions, including Vidarbha, Telangana, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Rayalaseema, south interior Karnataka, and Kerala. In Delhi, a cloudy sky with low chances of rain is predicted.
Cyclonic Circulation in Bay of Bengal
In its daily bulletin, the IMD reported that cyclonic circulation over the Central Bay of Bengal is likely to develop into a low-pressure area over the west-central Bay of Bengal in the next 24 hours. This system is expected to bring more rainfall to several regions.
Rainfall Forecast for South Peninsular India
Over the coming week, coastal Karnataka is likely to witness widespread light to moderate rainfall, with Karnataka, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, Rayalaseema, and Telangana expected to see rainfall over the next three days. Isolated heavy to very heavy rain is predicted in north interior Karnataka on September 24, and isolated extremely heavy rainfall is forecasted for coastal Karnataka on the same day.
Additionally, isolated heavy rainfall is likely in Kerala, Mahe, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Rayalaseema, and Telangana on September 24. Heavy rain will persist in coastal Karnataka, Kerala, and Mahe on September 25, and in Telangana and coastal Andhra Pradesh on both September 24 and 25.
