Karnataka Weather Alert: Heavy Rainfall Expected Across State Until December 4, Yellow Alert Declared

While coastal Karnataka and some parts of the southern hinterland anticipate rain today, the northern hinterland districts are expected to remain dry. Specifically, Dakshina Kannada and Udupi district will see light thundershowers today, with the likelihood of moderate rainfall extending over the next few days.

In contrast, the northern hinterland districts including Bagalkote, Belagavi, Bidar, Dharwad, Gadag, Haveri, Kalaburgi, Koppal, Raichur, Vijayapur, and Yadgiri will not experience rainfall today. However, a shift is expected from December 2, with light rain predicted in parts of Dharwad and Haveri districts. The forecast continues to show a scattered pattern of light rain across several districts, including Dharwad, Gadag, Haveri, Koppal on December 3, and expands to Haveri, Kalaburgi, Koppal, Raichur, Yadgiri districts by December 4.

Moving to the southern hinterland districts, they are set to witness rains starting today through to December 4. Districts like Chikkamagaluru, Hassan, Kodagu, and Shimogga are expected to receive heavy rainfall accompanied by lightning and thunder today. A broader expanse of districts including Bellary, Bangalore Rural and City, Chamarajanagar, Chikkaballapur, Chitradurga, Davangere, Hassan, Kodagu, Kolar, Mandya, Mysore, Ramanagara, Shimoga, Tumkur, and Vijayanagar will experience light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms.

This pattern is predicted to persist, with the potential for light, moderate, or heavy rain across most southern interior districts from December 2 to December 4. Noteworthy, Chikkaballapur, Kolar, and Tumkur districts are expected to receive heavy rainfall on December 2, with the prediction extending to Chikkaballapur, Chikkamagaluru, Chitradurga, Kodagu, Kolar, and Tumkur districts on December 3.
