Karnataka Weather Alert: Light Rain in Bengaluru, 25+ Districts to See Showers This Weekend
Bengaluru residents may see scattered light rain in some areas, according to the latest forecast by the Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre (KSNDMC).
The rainfall is expected between 8:30 AM on March 21 and 8:30 AM on March 22, 2025. The forecast suggests:

Light to very light rain (0.1 mm to 15 mm) in Yelahanka, Dasarahalli, West, South, and Bommanahalli Zones.
Dry weather in Mahadevapura and East Zones, with no major rainfall predicted.
While this may bring brief relief, widespread rain is not expected. The forecast is based on an experimental model, and KSNDMC advises residents to check official updates for any changes.
Relief from Scorching Heat?
With temperatures soaring to 38-40°C in some parts of Karnataka, many people are eagerly waiting for rain. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted showers over the next week, offering some relief from the heat and water shortages.
Rain is expected in Bengaluru, Mysuru, Kodagu, Chikkamagaluru, Chamarajanagar, Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Hassan, Mandya, and Kolar districts. However, some regions will continue to experience hot and dry weather.
Rainfall Expected in Over 25 Districts
Some areas in southern Karnataka saw rain on Thursday, and the IMD predicts over 25 districts, including Bengaluru and Shivamogga, will get rain for a week starting today.
Rainfall is expected in: Tumkur, Ramanagara, Mysuru, Mandya, Kolar, Kodagu, Hassan, Chikkamagaluru, Chikkaballapur, Chamarajanagar, Bangalore Rural, Bangalore Urban, Yadgir, Vijayapura, Raichur, Kalaburagi, Gadag, Dharwad, Bidar, Bagalkot, and Belagavi. Coastal areas like Uttara Kannada, Dakshina Kannada, and Udupi will see showers from March 25.
Recent weather updates:
- Shivamogga, Sringeri, and Balehonnur received rain.
- Kalaburagi recorded the highest temperature at 39.6°C, while Chamarajanagar had the lowest at 19.5°C.

The morning will be clear, but clouds are expected in the evening.

- City: 34.7°C max, 21.4°C min
- KIAL (Airport): 35.5°C max, 21.2°C min
- GKVK: 34.2°C max, 21.4°C min
On Saturday, Kodagu may see moderate rain, while Bengaluru, Mysuru, Hassan, Chikkamagaluru, Chikkaballapur, Kolar, Tumkur, Ramanagara, and Mandya may experience thundershowers with wind speeds of 40-50 kmph.
Karnataka Temperature Updates
Kallur hobli in Raichur district recorded the highest maximum temperature of 41.8°C in the state.
Many places in Raichur district, a few places in Kalaburagi & Belagavi districts, and isolated places in Bidar, Vijayapura, Uttara Kannada, Yadgir, Bagalkote, Chitradurga & Tumakuru districts recorded maximum temperatures of 40°C & above.
According to the KSNDMC weather monitoring network: 9 locations in Raichur district recorded temperatures of 40°C or more.
5 locations in Kalaburagi district, 4 in Belagavi district, 3 in Bidar & Vijayapura districts each, 2 in Uttara Kannada & Yadgir districts each, and 1 each in Bagalkote, Chitradurga & Tumakuru districts also recorded temperatures of 40°C & above.
The maximum temperature was near normal (-1.5°C to 1.5°C) across the state.
