Karnataka Weather Alert: IMD Predicts Rain For Bengaluru Due To Cyclone Fengal Depression In Tamil Nadu
Bengaluru residents began their day under a partially cloudy sky, with the sun making brief appearances during the early hours. As the day unfolded, clouds steadily spread across the city and its surrounding areas. With the cloud cover intensifying, cooler temperatures are expected, accompanied by a slight dip in the sun's intensity. There is also a chance of light rain or drizzle as the clouds develop further.
This year, Bengaluru is experiencing an early onset of winter, with minimum temperatures recently dipping to 16°C - unusually low for November. Typically, such conditions emerge in December, but meteorologists attribute the chill to the La Niña phenomenon, which is marked by cooler-than-average Pacific Ocean surface temperatures.

However, the colder weather is bringing more than a nip in the air. Bengaluru's air quality has also taken a hit, with the city recording an Air Quality Index (AQI) of 116 on November 25. Residents are now bundling up with sweaters and carrying masks to combat the colder temperatures and the declining air quality.
Cyclone Fengal's Impact on Bengaluru
Adding to the weather developments, Karnataka, particularly Bengaluru, may experience rainfall in the coming days due to Cyclone Fengal's depression in Tamil Nadu. The weather system, originating off the coast of Sri Lanka, has moved toward Tamil Nadu but continues to impact nearby regions, including Bengaluru.
While the depression is unlikely to develop into a full-fledged cyclone, meteorologists warn that it still holds the potential to deliver significant rainfall. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicts cloudy skies and occasional spells of rain in Bengaluru over the next few days. Surrounding districts may also witness heavy rain and gusty winds due to atmospheric disturbances in the Bay of Bengal (BOB).
The southern coastal belt of Karnataka is expected to bear the brunt of the rainfall, while northern parts of the state could also experience showers. Although Cyclone Fengal may not directly hit Bengaluru, its associated low-pressure systems and moisture-laden winds are expected to bring moderate to heavy rainfall to the city.
Bengaluru weather forecast: IMD Predicts Chances of Rain in Southern Districts
For Bengaluru residents, the coming days will bring cooler temperatures and intermittent rainfall. IMD predicted that Bengaluru Urban and Rural districts will likely experience light rain on November 30 and December 1, the city is expected to remain mostly dry until then. Residents can anticipate cooler evenings due to overcast conditions in the coming days.
As Bengaluru braces for the impact of Cyclone Fengal's depression, residents should prepare for a mix of cooler weather, occasional rain, and associated challenges.
