Karnataka Weather Alert: Dip In Day Temperature Offers Respite To Bengaluru, Check Weather Forecast

Bengaluru, a city grappling with a severe water crisis and soaring temperatures, experienced clear to partly cloudy day on Saturday. The daytime temperature in the city was recorded at 34.5°C which was in normal range, a welcome change from the recent heatwave.

On Friday, India's Silicon Valley recored temperature around 34.6°C. The last time Bengaluru recorded a temperature around 34°C was on March 23. However, for nearly 19 days, temperatures had been 1°C to 3°C above normal, ranging from approximately 35°C to 37°C.

Will Bengaluru See More Rain

This change in weather can be attributed to a distant low-pressure area south of Sri Lanka, which has increased cloud cover over the Southern Peninsula. The impact was felt with widespread showers across West and North Karnataka.

Bengaluru rains forecast:

GFS weather model has yet again forecasts rain in Bengaluru on April 18-19, but we'll have to wait and see.

Meanwhile, Rainfall brought relief to several districts of North Karnataka, including Belagavi, Bagalkot, Ballari, Bidar, and Vijayapura. Farmers in Bagalkot district, especially in areas like Rabakavi-Banahatti, Bagalkot town, Hungund, Ilkal, and others, welcomed the showers as it rejuvenated their crops.

Rains were also reported in Shivamogga and Tarikere in Chikkamagaluru district.

In Dharwad district, Kalaghatagi and surrounding areas received heavy rain for over an hour, resulting in the collapse of 20 electricity poles at Solikatti village. Mundgod taluk in Uttara district saw papaya trees damaged due to the rain.

Kodagu district also experienced heavy rainfall. The relief, however, might be temporary as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) heatwave outlook for March to May, based on the Multi-Model Ensemble Forecasting System, predicts above-normal heatwave conditions for the state for a significant portion of the remaining season.

Thunderstorm Rains Forecast for South and West TN, Kerala

Thunderstorm rains are expected to continue in parts of South, West Tamil Nadu, and Kerala today before the Upper Air Cyclonic (UAC) system moves away. These widespread rains follow yesterday's occurrences, which brought relief from the scorching heat in many areas.

Chennai is also set to experience relief from the heat today. However, a gradual increase in temperature is predicted across Tamil Nadu and Kerala starting tomorrow. According to latest reports, it has already started raining in Chennai.
