Karnataka Weather Alert: Bengaluru On Fire? City To See 39°C As IMD Warns Of Heatwave

Karnataka is set to experience a mix of weather conditions over the next two days, with rain expected in four districts and heatwave conditions predicted in six. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted rainfall in Dakshina Kannada, Hassan, Kodagu, and Mysuru, while Bagalkot, Bidar, Kalaburagi, Raichur, Vijayapura, and Yadgir may witness extreme heat conditions.

Other parts of the state, including Tumakuru, Vijayanagar, Shivamogga, Kolar, Mandya, Davangere, Chitradurga, Chikkamagaluru, Chikkaballapur, Chamarajanagar, Bengaluru Rural, Bengaluru Urban, Koppal, Gadag, Dharwad, Belagavi, Uttara Kannada, and Udupi, are expected to remain dry.

Temperature Trends Across Karnataka

Kalaburagi recorded the highest temperature at 39.8°C, making it the hottest district.
Davangere and Chamarajanagar saw the lowest temperatures, dropping to 16°C.
Coastal regions recorded minimum temperatures ranging between 25-26°C.

Bengaluru is experiencing rising temperatures, with the mercury currently hovering between 32 to 34 degrees Celsius. Over the next two days, temperatures are expected to soar to 36-38 degrees, with forecasts indicating that the city could hit 39 degrees Celsius by the end of the month.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a maximum temperature alert, cautioning residents about the increasing heatwave conditions. Last year, Bengaluru recorded a peak temperature of 39 degrees Celsius, and this year, the IMD predicts that the temperature could touch 39 to 40 degrees Celsius in the coming weeks.

Authorities have advised residents in heatwave-affected districts to stay hydrated, avoid prolonged sun exposure, and take necessary precautions. Meanwhile, people in rain-affected areas are urged to stay alert and prepare for potential waterlogging and traffic disruptions.

Hot Winds Add to Heatwave Concerns

The IMD has also warned about hot winds, which have already been reported in Mangaluru and Kalaburagi. These conditions are now beginning to affect Bengaluru, raising concerns among residents and authorities.
