Karnataka Rains: Clouds Play Peek-A-Boo In Bengaluru, Offering Residents A Brief Respite From Heat

Bengaluru, grappling with a severe water crisis and soaring temperatures, experienced a glimmer of hope as the city witnessed cloudy weather in the morning, hinting at the possibility of rain. However, to the disappointment of many, the temperature is gradually increasing, returning the atmosphere to its state from yesterday.

Cloudy Skies in Bengaluru

The sight of clouds in the morning raised hopes among residents, who eagerly anticipated the much-needed rainfall. According to latest update, it has already started raining in Madikeri, Virajpet areas in Coorg district.

Also, Thunderstorm is intensifying north of Vijayapura district in Karnataka.

It must be noted that Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Interior Karnataka are set to experience moderate to heavy rainfall. It's time for Bengaluru residents to prepare for rainwater harvesting, as the city is expected to receive rainfall for the next 2 to 3 days.

Chennai, on the other hand, will remain partly cloudy with temperatures ranging between 33 to 35 degrees Celsius.

Bengaluru rains forecast

Areas like Bengaluru, Mysuru, Ramanagara, Tumkur, and Mandya may experience light showers, with the possibility of hit or miss rain.

Both Weather Models ECMWF & GFS expecting light - moderate rain this evening

According to weather experts, many parts of South Tamil Nadu and Kerala may witness thunderstorm rains in the evening and night due to an Upper Air Cyclonic Circulation (UAC).

Despite the likelihood of widespread rainfall being low, regions like Palakkad in Kerala, which have been enduring high temperatures, may also receive some precipitation.

Meanwhile, Davanagere residents witnessed rain in several areas. The rain, accompanied by strong winds, caused some damage to old houses, with tiles being blown off or shifted, and roofs becoming loose. However, the city continues to face drinking water problems, despite the rain providing some relief from the heat.

Following the Ugadi celebrations, over ten districts in Karnataka experienced heavy rainfall. Vijayapura district, which had been enduring scorching heat for two months, witnessed heavy rain accompanied by thunder and lightning. Tragically, two individuals, including a boy, lost their lives due to lightning. Additionally, heavy rain caused trees and electric poles to fall in some districts, leading to power outages in many areas on Thursday night. The rainfall over Wednesday and Thursday has resulted in a slight decrease in temperatures across many districts.
