Karnataka: Mysuru Urban Development Authority Agrees To Take Back Plots From Siddaramaiah's Wife
The Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) has agreed to reclaim 14 plots previously allocated to Parvathi B M, wife of Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. This decision follows her choice to surrender ownership and possession of these plots. MUDA had earlier ordered the cancellation of the sale deed for these plots.
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has filed a case against Chief Minister Siddaramaiah concerning alleged irregularities in plot allotments by MUDA. On Monday, an Enforcement Case Information Report (ECIR), similar to a police FIR, was registered against him. The case involves the allocation of 14 sites to his wife.

Allegations and Legal Proceedings
The Lokayukta police lodged an FIR on September 27 against Siddaramaiah, his wife, brother-in-law Mallikarjuna Swamy, and others. This action followed a Special Court order. The court's directive came after the High Court upheld the Governor's sanction for investigating Siddaramaiah.
MUDA Commissioner A N Raghunandan stated that Dr Yathindra, Parvathi's son and an MLC, submitted a letter regarding the relinquishment. "We have gone through the provisions in our act," he said. "There are provisions in our act to take it when given voluntarily."
Controversial Allotment Scheme
The controversy revolves around 14 compensatory sites allotted to Parvathi in Mysuru's upscale Vijayanagar Layout 3rd and 4th stages. These areas have higher property values compared to her original land location acquired by MUDA. The allotment was under a scheme where MUDA provided 50% developed land in exchange for undeveloped land acquired for residential layouts.
Parvathi allegedly lacked legal title over the 3.16 acres of land at survey number 464 in Kasare village, Kasaba hobli of Mysuru taluk. This land was exchanged under MUDA's controversial scheme for forming residential layouts.
Decision to Relinquish Plots
Parvathi wrote to MUDA expressing her decision to give up ownership of the plots, citing her husband's dignity as more important than any asset or wealth. "No site, home, asset and wealth is bigger for her than her husband's respect, dignity, honour and peace of mind," she stated.
After consulting panel advocates and legal officers, MUDA concluded everything was correct and decided to take back the plots. "We have ordered to cancel the sale deed and handed it over to the sub registrar," Raghunandan confirmed.
This development highlights ongoing scrutiny over land allotments involving political figures in Karnataka. The case continues as authorities investigate further into these allegations.
