Karnataka Govt Withdraws CID Probe To Find Police Link In Ranya Rao Gold Smuggling Case
The Karnataka government has withdrawn police involvement from the investigation into the Ranya Rao gold smuggling case.
Initially, the state's Criminal Investigation Department (CID) was assigned to examine protocol breaches at Bengaluru International Airport.

However, the Home Ministry has now revoked the order for this inquiry.
This decision comes two days after the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) took over the high-profile case involving the smuggling of 14 kilograms of gold, which has been in the spotlight for over a week.
Ranya Rao was arrested on March 3 at Bengaluru International Airport with 14 kilograms of gold concealed within her clothing and under bandages. Following questioning by state police, she was remanded in judicial custody for 14 days.
The 33-year-old actress has alleged that she was "verbally tortured" and denied rest during the first 24 hours of police custody.
Her lawyer has also claimed multiple protocol violations occurred during her arrest, including the failure to inform her of her legal rights.
