Karnataka Govt Considers Bengaluru Namma Metro Extension To Nelamangala
Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has announced that the state government is evaluating a proposal to extend Bengaluru Namma Metro services to Nelamangala. He made the announcement during the inauguration of Sri Beereshwara Swamy Devasthana's community hall and prayer temple in Nelamangala on Sunday.

The Chief Minister's statement comes in response to a request by local residents for metro connectivity to Nelamangala, citing its rapid population growth and increasing traffic congestion. The proposal is being considered as part of the government's efforts to improve transportation infrastructure in the region.
In addition to the metro extension, the government is also planning to implement water rejuvenation plans for the Cauvery and Vrushabhavathi rivers. These plans aim to address the water scarcity problem in Nelamangala and surrounding areas by filling ponds and enhancing groundwater levels.
The government is also focusing on increasing revenue generation through the Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC). The BBMP (Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike) is exploring new revenue sources, including leasing properties owned by BMRCL (Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd.). An agreement has been reached to collect property tax from BMRCL properties, and BBMP is currently working to maximize revenue collection.
According to the agreement, the administration will receive Rs. 2.14 crore annually in service charges from BMRCL. The metro service operates on a 73.81-kilometer corridor, and revenue is generated from stations, commercial spaces, and properties along the route.
