Karnataka Deputy CM Unveils Plans For Namma Metro Line Extension To Bidadi
Karnataka's Deputy Chief Minister, DK Shivakumar announced the government's intention to extend the Namma Metro to Bidadi, located near Ramanagara in the state. He emphasized the prioritization of Bidadi's development by the Karnataka government.
During an event at the Toyota Technical Training Institute in Bidadi, the deputy CM highlighted Bidadi's significance, citing its numerous industries and workforce. He stated that the government has comprehensive plans for Bidadi's development, with a primary focus on extending the Namma Metro service to the area.

Shivakumar's comments followed a controversial statement in which he mentioned the government's plan to rename Ramanagara as Bengaluru South.
In a previous statement, DK Shivakumar remarked, "Ramanagara district, comprising Channapatna, Ramanagara, Kanakapura, Magadi, and Harohalli taluks, has been contemplated to be renamed as Bengaluru Dakshina district."
Former Chief Minister and Ramanagara MLA HD Kumaraswamy criticized the deputy CM, asserting that Ramanagara cannot be included in Bengaluru, even after seven lifetimes. He questioned the government's intentions, expressing concerns about potential land dealings and fortifications on disputed lands.
If the government proceeds with the metro extension to Bidadi, the purple line, currently terminating at Challaghatta, would need to be prolonged to reach Bidadi, which lies outside the BBMP limits.
