Karnataka Crime: 15-Year-Old Girl Gang-Raped Multiple Times, Recorded Her Video To Blackmail; 5 Arrested

A 15-year-old girl in Karnataka's Belagavi was gang-raped twice by 6 people, said reports. It was learned that they recorded the crime on their mobile phone and were threatening the girl. They raped her multiple time in couple of months.

The family of the victim reported the matter to police and lodged a case at the Agricultural Produce Market Committee (APMC) police station.

Talking to the media, Police Commissioner Borase Bhushan Gulabrao said that police reacted swiftly to complaint and apprehended five suspects, while one is on the run.

"She is a minor, a POCSO case has been registered. Can't reveal any identities and in-depth details about the case," Gulabrao said. He added that due to the sensitive nature of the case, specific details cannot be disclosed at this time.

Investigation and Arrests

The accused befriended the girl in December, lured her to a remote location, and called his friends. They recorded the assault on their mobile devices and used this footage to intimidate her into silence. In January, three of them raped her again under threat of releasing the video.

All six accused are adults over 18 years old. "She didn't suffer any injuries. In both incidents, there were 6 perpetrators. We have arrested 5 of them in less than 24 hours and one is absconding," Gulabrao stated. The police acted swiftly, apprehending most of the suspects within a day of filing the report.

Forensic Evidence Collection

The forensic team is actively gathering samples and evidence to build a strong case against those involved. "Our forensic team is at work, collecting all samples and evidences. We will ensure these perpetrators will remain behind bars for a longer period for this heinous crime," he further said.

The authorities are determined to secure justice for the victim by ensuring that those responsible face severe consequences for their actions. The investigation continues as they work towards capturing the remaining suspect.
