Karnataka Congress MP Asks For A Separate Country, Here's Why

Congress's Lok Sabha MP DK Suresh on Thursday sparked controversy after raising demand for a "separate country" for South Indian states. The reaction from Congress MP came after Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharam tabled the interim budget 2024. Talking to the media, Congress MP suggested a separate country as the only option left to get funds from the Center. He alleged that the Narendra Modi government has always been biased and provided insufficient funds to Karnataka.

MP DK Suresh's statement went viral on the internet in minutes and welcomed a huge debate and criticism.

"Injustice was being served to South India," the Congress MP said right after the Union Budget 2024. "Funds that were supposed to reach the South are getting diverted and distributed to North India," he accused.

DK Suresh said the people of Karnataka are left with no choice but to demand a "separate country" as the "Hindi region is trying to dominate South India".

Opposition in Karnataka, BJP, was quick to catch the ball. BJP PM Tejasvi Surya slammed the grand old party stating Congress has a history of 'Divide and Rule' and now its members are reiterating it.

"On one hand, their leader Rahul Gandhi is attempting to 'unite' the country with his 'Jodo' Yatras. On the other hand, we have an MP who is hell-bent on breaking the nation. Congress' idea of divide and rule is much worse than that followed by the colonizers," Tejasvi Surya said.

"Kannadigas will never allow this to happen. We will give them a befitting reply in the Lok Sabha elections and ensure that #CongressMuktBharat attains fruition," BJP MP added.
