Karnataka Cold Wave: Bengaluru and Interior Districts Face Fog, Low Temperatures; Clear Skies During Day

Bengaluru and large parts of Karnataka are set to experience cold and dry conditions on 18 January, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). Several areas may see foggy mornings, prompting officials and health experts to advise residents to stay warm and take precautions.

In Bengaluru, misty or foggy conditions are expected, with the minimum temperature dipping to around 15°C and the maximum reaching about 29°C. The city is likely to remain cooler than usual throughout the day and night.

Health Precautions Amid Chilly Weather

Doctors warn that persistent cold can pose risks for people with pre-existing health conditions and weaker immunity. Residents are advised to wear warm clothing, use blankets at night, and consume hot, freshly cooked meals. Families are also urged to monitor children and the elderly closely during early morning and late evening hours.

Karnataka Weather Forecast

Dry weather has been prevailing across many parts of Karnataka for several days, and this trend is expected to continue on 18 January. Coastal regions including Udupi, Dakshina Kannada, and Uttara Kannada are forecast to remain dry. North interior districts such as Belagavi, Bidar, Vijayapura, Bagalkote, Haveri, Gadag, Dharwad, Kalaburagi, Koppal, Ballari, Raichur, Yadgir, and Vijayanagara will also see clear skies with no significant rainfall.

South interior areas, including Kolar, Bengaluru Rural, Bengaluru Urban, Ballari, Chamarajanagar, Tumakuru, Chikkaballapur, Ramanagara, Mandya, Mysuru, Chikkamagaluru, Chitradurga, Davanagere, Kodagu, Hassan, Shivamogga, and Vijayanagara, are expected to experience chilly mornings followed by relatively mild afternoons under clear or partly cloudy skies.

Officials emphasize that residents should follow simple precautions such as wearing warm layers, maintaining balanced meals, and seeking timely medical attention if feeling unwell. These measures are essential to stay safe during this spell of chilly, foggy weather.
