Karnataka CM and Ministers Targeted In Bomb Threat Email; Investigation Launched

A threat email was received by Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and several other cabinet ministers. on Teusday.

The email, sent by an individual using the email address [email protected], specifically targeted prominent figures such as Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, and the state Home Minister G Parameshwara.

The email threatened to cause large explosions on buses, trains, temples, hotels, and public areas throughout Karnataka if a ransom of 2.5 million dollars was not provided. Additionally, it mentioned plans to carry out an explosion in the Ambari Utsav bus and to escalate demands on social media afterward.

Subsequently, a case was registered by the Bengaluru City Crime Branch police. Earlier, an individual named Mohammed Rasool Kaddare was arrested by the Karnataka Police for posting a threatening video on social media, targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

The arrest followed the registration of an FIR at Surpur police station in Karnataka's Yadgiri, where the accused was charged under sections 505(1)(b) and 25(1)(b) of the Indian Penal Code and the Arms Act. Regarding the incident, Bharatiya Janata Party leader and senior advocate Nalin Kohli expressed concern over the emergence of such elements in Karnataka, emphasizing the need to understand the underlying mindset behind such actions.
