Karnataka Budget 2018: Indira canteen gets boost, Anna Bhagya tweaked
Bengaluru, July 5: Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy, in the maiden Budget of the Congress-JDS coalition government, has reduced quantity of rice distributed in Anna Bhagya scheme and proposed to expand Indira Canteens across the state.
The quantity of rice distributed in Anna Bhagya scheme has been reduced from 7 kg to 5 kg.

In the Budget speech, Kumaraswamy said, "Considering the popularity of Indira Canteens in Bengaluru, action has been taken to open 247 Indira Canteens in all taluks and district head quarters of the state at an expenditure of Rs 211 crores."
Kumaraswamy presented the first budget of his Congress-JD(S) coalition government in the Vidhana Soudha on Thursday. He announced farm loan wavier amounting to Rs 34,000 crore in its budget. The previous waiver had cost the state exchequer Rs 8,165 crore.
