Jalahalli Metro Scare: Namma Metro Staff Save Ex- Air Force Officer from Train Tracks; Green Line Disrupted
A potential tragedy was narrowly avoided today at Jalahalli metro station in Bengaluru when a former Air Force officer from Bihar, identified as Mr. Anil Kumar Pandey, attempted to jump onto the tracks of the Green Line as a metro train was approaching. The incident, which occurred around 10:25 AM, caused a brief disruption in metro services.
Reports indicate that Mr. Pandey, aged approximately 49, leapt onto the tracks just as the train neared the station on the Silk Institute to Madavara route. Eyewitnesses reported seeing him lying between the rails, seemingly intent on taking his own life. Thankfully, the metro train driver acted swiftly, applying the emergency brakes and stopping the train in time to avert a disaster.

Metro staff and rescue teams quickly responded, utilizing the Emergency Trip System (ETS) to safely remove Mr. Pandey from the tracks. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and he was safely rescued from the perilous situation.
The incident caused a brief disruption in metro services, with delays on the Green Line for approximately 15 minutes. Between 10:25 AM and 10:50 AM, four trains ran on a shortened loop between Yeshwanthpur and Silk Institute instead of their usual route to Madavara. By 10:50 AM, regular services on the Green Line were restored.

A spokesperson from Namma Metro issued the following statement:
"A person named Mr. Anil Kumar Pandey, a former Air Force officer from Bihar, aged around 49, jumped onto the tracks at Jalahalli metro station at about 10:25 AM today. The Emergency Trip System (ETS) was immediately activated, and Mr. Pandey was rescued by BMRCL staff and teams. No injuries were reported. Normal train services on the Green Line were restored at 10:50 AM. During the disruption, four trains operated on a short loop between Yeshwanthpur and Silk Institute instead of reaching Madavara."
