Influencer Sonu Srinivas Gowda Arrested For Allegedly Flouting Adoption Rules In Bengaluru

Sonu Srinivas Gowda, a social media influencer and Bigg Boss Kannada OTT star, has been booked by the Byadarahalli police in western Bengaluru for allegedly failing to adhere to adoption procedures while adopting a girl child. The arrest was made after a joint operation by officials from the Child Protection Office and local police in Byadarahalli. A case was registered by the Byadarahalli police in Bengaluru on Thursday night, and Sonu was arrested on Friday.

Gowda was arrested on Friday morning and is currently under questioning. According to S Girish, Deputy Commissioner of Police (West), action was taken following a complaint by an official from the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) on Thursday. "The person adopted the eight-year-old from Raichur," Girish stated.

"The complainant has alleged that proper adoption procedures were not followed and that the woman posts reels (short videos) on social media with the child. The complaint also stated that this constitutes an offence under the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act. She has been arrested, and further investigations are ongoing," Girish added.

Authorities acted on a complaint from the Child Protection Office, claiming that Sonu's adoption was an attempt to gain undeserved sympathy and celebrity status. Byadarahalli police registered a case against her, leading to her arrest.

Sonu Srinivas Gowda has a significant social media following with close to 1 million followers on Instagram. She has also appeared in Bigg Boss Kannada, a reality show.

Sonu Srinivas Gowda maintains her innocence and has stated that she followed proper procedures in the adoption process. She expressed confusion over her arrest, mentioning that it had only been 15 days since she brought the child home.

Officials from the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) are currently questioning Sonu, seeking clarification on the adoption process and her intentions. Authorities emphasize that they will not apprehend innocent individuals. In a previous video, Sonu announced the adoption and shared details of the process, including a recorded phone call with the child's parents. However, authorities maintain that she lacked the necessary information and transparency in the adoption procedure.
