Hebbal Flyover Expansion To Slow Traffic For K.R.Puram, Nagavara Commuters For 4 Months
Bengaluru Traffic Police issued a warning on Thursday regarding potential traffic disruptions due to the ongoing expansion work on the Hebbal flyover. The Bengaluru Development Authority (BDA) is adding two new tracks to the flyover, which will require the dismantling of two spans near the K.R.Puram loop connecting to the main track.
Commuters traveling from K.R.Puram and Nagavara towards the city center should expect significant traffic slowdowns for the next four months. The K.R.Puram loop towards the city center is expected to be particularly affected.

To minimize the impact, the Bengaluru Traffic Police suggested alternative routes for affected commuters. These include the IOC-Mukunda theatre road, Lingarajpuram flyover route, and the Nagavara-Tannery road route for those entering the city. Travelers from Hegdenagar-Thanisandra are advised to use the G.K.V.K-Jakkur road to access the city.
During peak hours, vehicles from the Nagavara side will face restrictions, as the K.R.Puram upramp will be closed. In such cases, drivers should proceed to Hebbal circle below the flyover, turn right towards Kodigehalli, execute a U-turn to join the service road, and finally, merge onto the loop towards the city.
The Hebbal flyover expansion project faced a setback in January when the South Western Railway (SWR) requested clearance from the BDA before proceeding with construction. This clearance is crucial to ensure that road infrastructure development does not impede future rail projects. The SWR plans to lay six additional tracks in the area, with four of them being part of the Bengaluru Suburban Rail Project (BSRP) and the doubling of the Yeshwantpur-Hebbal-Channasandra line.
As commuters prepare to navigate the upcoming disruptions, authorities are working to minimize inconvenience while advancing essential infrastructure projects for the city's development.
