SIT Arrests JDS Leader HD Revanna In Woman's Kidnapping Case

Former Karnataka minister and JD(S) MLA HD Revanna was arrested and taken into custody by the Karnataka Police's Special Investigation Team (SIT) in relation to a kidnapping case filed against him. According to reports, the JD(S) legislator was taken into custody from the residence of former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda.

This action followed the rejection of HD Revanna's request for interim protection from arrest by a local court.

Just before he was taken into the custody, HD Revanna's plea for interim protection from arrest in the kidnapping case was turned down by a local court. The special public prosecutor (SPP) highlighted the mysterious circumstances of the kidnapping, questioning the involvement of Prajwal Revanna. The SPP emphasized the need to consider the broader context and certain aspects of the complaint.

H D Revanna was booked in a kidnapping case after a 20-year-old man accused his mother, who was featured in alleged sex tapes of HD Revanna's son, JD(S) MP Prajwal, of being abducted by Revanna's associate, Satish Babanna. The police filed a case against Revanna and Babanna under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, including kidnapping, and Revanna was remanded to 14-day judicial custody.

Meanwhile, the woman has been located in Hunsur, Karnataka, and is being interrogated by the Special Investigation Team. The incident, as per the FIR, occurred on April 29, with the woman previously working at Revanna's residence and farmhouse for six years before returning home to work as a daily wage laborer. According to the FIR, Babanna coerced the woman to accompany him on April 29, claiming Revanna had summoned her, and threatened the family against involving the police.
