Hassan Sex Scandal: Karnataka Govt Forms SIT To Probe Prajwal Revanna's Alleged Sleazy Videos

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has announced that the government will set up a special investigation team to probe the sex scandal involving JDS' lone MP Prajwal Revanna.

In a post on X, the Chief Minister said that the government has decided to form a SIT in connection with Prajwal Revanna's obscene video case.

He wrote, "Obscene video clips are circulating in Hassan district, where it appears that women have been sexually assaulted. In this background, the Chairperson of the Women's Commission had written a letter to the government to conduct an SIT investigation. This decision has been taken in response to their request."

A petition has been filed at the Karnataka State Commission for Women.

Commission chairperson Dr Nagalakshmi Chaudhary wrote a letter on April 25 to Siddaramaiah and state police chief Alok Mohan, urging for a special investigation into the viral sex videos in Hassan.

Ahead of polling in Hassan on Friday, Prajwal, via his election agent, filed a complaint alleging that manipulated videos were being disseminated to smear his reputation.

Poornachandra Tejaswi MG, the election agent for both the Janata Dal (Secular) and the BJP, filed a complaint alleging that Naveen Gowda and several others circulated purported videos aimed at defaming the JDS MP.

"Naveen Gowda and others morphed videos and images and circulated them to the voters in the Hassan Lok Sabha segment through pen drives, CDs and WhatsApp to put Prajwal Revanna in bad light. They are asking the people not to vote for him," India Today quoted the FIR as stating.

Meanwhile, Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar has urged JDS state president H D Kumaraswamy to come clean on the issue.

Prajwal Revanna is the grandson of former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda. He is the son of JDS MLA Holinarasipura MLA and former minister Revanna.

In the Lok Sabha elections, the JDS has forged alliance with the BJP and the the SIT was ordered a day after Karnataka had its first phase of polling in the ongoing Lok Sabha elections.
