The Gruha Lakshmi scheme, a government initiative to promote gender equality and empower women in Karnataka, is set to launch on Wednesday, August 30, in Mysuru City. The scheme will provide financial support to women family heads, with the first installment of funds being transferred to beneficiaries' bank accounts on the same day.

The launch event will be attended by Karnataka Congress President Mallikarjuna Kharge and Member of Parliament Rahul Gandhi. The scheme is expected to benefit around 12.8 million women in the state, who will receive an annual financial aid of Rs 2,000 directly deposited into their bank accounts.

The Gruha Lakshmi scheme is part of a series of government assurances aimed at improving the lives of women and families in Karnataka. Other initiatives in this series include the Shakti, Anna Bhagya, and Gruha Jyothi schemes.

The launch ceremony will be held in Mysuru and will be attended by beneficiaries from the districts of Mysuru, Mandya, Chamarajanagar, and Kodagu. Plans are also in place to extend the scheme to other districts, such as Belagavi.

  • The program bestows a monthly allowance of Rs 2,000 to women heads of select families.
  • The state of Karnataka has allocated a significant Rs 32,000 crore annually to support this initiative.
  • Eligibility and Documentation:
  • The scheme's benefits are extended to women listed as family heads on Antyodaya, Below Poverty Line (BPL), and Above Poverty Line (APL) ration cards. Only one woman within a family can be a beneficiary.
  • Required documents include Above Poverty Line Card/Below Poverty Line Card/Antyodaya Card, bank-linked Aadhaar card, bank details, and Aadhaar-linked phone number.

Registration Process:

Registration for the Gruha Lakshmi scheme is possible through both online and offline methods:

Offline Registration:

  • Beneficiaries can visit designated centers with the required documents to register for the scheme free of charge.
  • Government representatives will also facilitate door-to-door registrations.

Online Registration:

  • Eligible women can register online by visiting the official portal of the Seva Sindhu Guarantee scheme.
  • Navigate to the 'Gruha Lakshmi Yojana' option.
  • Click on the link in the pop-up box.
  • Fill in the necessary information and upload the documents.
  • Submit the form and note the application number for future reference.
