Gruha Lakshmi Scheme: Are Women From Income Tax Paying Families Eligible To Get Rs 2000?
The Congress government's key poll promise the 'Gruha Lakshmi' scheme will be launched in August.
Under the scheme, the women identified as heads of families will get Rs 2,000 assistance per month. It is likely to be launched in August.

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has instructed the officials to simplify the application process for the scheme and avoid asking unnecessary information and documents. If the applications are rejected, proper reasons have to be cited to the individuals, he has told the authorities.
With Congress rolling out five schemes, the CM directed the officials of the e-governance department to increase the capacity of the Seva Sindhu portal in accordance with the huge amount of data submitted.
However, the question that largely looms in the minds of the people is: are taxpayers eligible for the scheme?
The women from Blow Poverty Line (BPL) and Above Poverty Line (APL) families can apply, but taxpayers and GST-registered families have been kept out of the scheme. It means if the women's husband is a taxpayer, then they are not eligible to get Rs 2000 from the state government.
However, the good news is the government might include the I-T payers in the scheme.
Women and Child Welfare Minister Laxmi Hebbalkar has said that the state government is likely to include even women from tax-paying families under the scheme and the proposal has been sent to the CM.
"We intend to add 10-11 lakh women with APL cards who are I-T payees or have their children or spouses as I-T payees, under the scheme. While the CM has not rejected the proposal, the government has decided to wait until a future date to include them," The Times Of India quoted the minister as saying.
Application Process
The application process will start from June 15. One can apply for this scheme online through the Seva Sindhu portal (sevasindhu.karnataka.gov.in). Similarly, applications can also be submitted in person at 'Nadakacheris', where separate counters will be set up for this purpose.
Documents For Getting Rs 2000
Applicants should provide Ration Card Number, Aadhaar Card Number of wife and husband, bank account details with Aadhaar combination. Copies of these documents can also be submitted with offline applications.
Once approved, the amount will be directly deposited into the bank account of the eligible beneficiaries through DBT.
The scheme amount will be deposited directly into the bank account of the eligible beneficiaries through DBT. It is estimated that this scheme will reach around 85 per cent of families in the State.
