GBA Bangalore Rolled Out: Residents Can Check Their Ward and Corporation Under New Governance System

The Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) has officially come into effect, allowing residents to identify their new corporation and ward under the city's revamped governance system.

Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar announced the rollout, stating that the new system is aimed at strengthening urban governance and ensuring quicker resolution of civic issues. On social media, he encouraged citizens,"Mine is Bengaluru West... Which one's yours?"

Check Your Corporation and Ward Online

The BBMP has launched a dedicated portal for residents to check their assignments: https://www.bbmp.gov.in/KnowYourNewCorporation/index.html

Residents can log in, enter their address, and discover their corporation and ward. Officials have stressed that using the portal is the easiest way to stay informed about the new structure.

Five New Corporations Formed

Shivakumar told reporters at Vidhana Soudha that the GBA now consists of five corporations: Bengaluru Central, North, South, East, and West. The authority was constituted on August 26, 2025, with 75 members appointed under the Chief Minister's leadership.

"We have to deliver, make sure every citizen is helped. All the problems of Bengaluru cannot be solved in one day. Citizens should cooperate, declare assets honestly, and pay taxes regularly. In return, they will get good governance," he added.

Taxes and Governance

From September 3, 2025, taxes will be collected by the new corporations and utilised solely within their respective jurisdictions. Elections for all five corporations are expected to be held soon.

Wards will be formed with an average population of 30,000-40,000 residents, and provisions exist to add new areas to East, West, and North corporations in the future.

Officials have stated that the GBA restructuring is intended to:
