Gag Order Imposed: Deve Gowda, Kumaraswamy Restrict 82 Media Houses On Prajwal Revanna Videos

A City Civil and Sessions Court in Bengaluru has issued a temporary restraining order against 82 media houses, preventing them from publishing any news that falsely depicts them in relation to Prajwal Revanna's videos without substantive evidence. The order allows media houses and platforms like Google, Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram to publish or telecast news if they believe truth is their defense and have substantial evidence to support it.

The order follows the emergence of sex abuse videos allegedly involving Prajwal Revanna, the grandson of Deve Gowda. Two days ago, HD Revanna, Deve Gowda's son, was arrested on charges of kidnapping one of the women allegedly abused by Prajwal, who is currently absconding.

Gag Order Secured

In their petition, the father-son duo emphasized their respected family background, deep roots in society, rich political history, and over 70 years in public life, stating that there are no allegations against them.

Deve Gowda and Kumaraswamy have distanced themselves from Revanna and his family, yet the defendants continue to inter-link them with the issue. This is not the first time such gag orders have been issued by Bengaluru courts, as revealed by TNM's investigation into media lists used by a group of lawyers in the city.
