Ejipura Flyover Status: 2.5 km Long Project Takes Shape With New Pillars
The much-awaited three-kilometre-long Ejipura flyover in Bengaluru, which would now cost close to Rs 307.96 crore, may finally see the light of day, as two new pillars are being erected. After a prolonged delay of five years, the stalled flyover on the critical Koramangala 100 feet road is finally going to resume construction.
Initiated by the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) in 2014, the Ejipura Flyover aims to alleviate traffic congestion in the Ejipura-Koramangala area, which has been exacerbated by increasing congestion at the Silkboard signal.

Despite beginning in 2014 and issuing a tender with a 30-month timeline in 2017, the project has faced numerous setbacks. The first contractor, Kolkata-based company Simplex, failed to meet the initial November 2019 deadline due to construction challenges, financial issues, and bureaucratic delays involving land acquisition and tree clearance. However, in September 2023, the Karnataka cabinet approved a new contract to a Hyderabad-based firm to complete the long-pending Ejipura flyover, giving it a new lease of life
The project missed subsequent deadlines, including one in December 2020, leading to penalties for the contractor. The onset of the COVID-19 pandemic further stalled progress, contrasting with the accelerated pace of other infrastructure projects during this period.
