Ejipura Flyover Enters Final Phase; October-End Opening Likely As Only 15 Spans To Be Installed
The long-delayed Ejipura-Kendriya Sadan Flyover project in Bengaluru is now moving rapidly towards completion, with officials indicating that the flyover could finally be opened to public traffic by the end of October this year.
After years of delays linked to contractor issues, funding constraints and land acquisition hurdles, engineers associated with the project said the majority of structural work has now been completed and the flyover has entered its final construction phase.

According to officials from the Greater Bengaluru Authority and Bengaluru South City Corporation, 728 out of the total 762 segments planned for the flyover have already been cast.
Ejipura Flyover Work Enters Final Phase
Project engineers said only 15 spans remain for final installation before the project moves towards finishing work and safety inspections.
Chief Engineer Raghavendra Prasad said the major structural works are expected to be completed by October-end.
"By the end of October, the project will be completed and traffic will be allowed. Most of the structural works are already finished," officials associated with the project said.
Engineers noted that each remaining span installation is expected to take around six to eight days.
Apart from span installation, peripheral works including piling operations, ramp construction and road widening are also progressing simultaneously.
St John's Land Issue Finally Resolved
A major breakthrough for the project came earlier this year after the long-pending St John's portal frame issue was resolved in February 2026.
Officials said cooperation from St. John's Medical College Hospital helped accelerate work considerably.
According to engineers, all foundation works in the critical St John's stretch have now been completed, including piles and pile caps.
Piers have also been constructed, while portal beam staging work is progressing rapidly.
Land Acquisition Delays Impacted Timeline
The Ejipura flyover project has faced repeated delays over the years due to land acquisition issues involving both private and government properties.
Officials said more than 5,500 square metres of land acquisition delays slowed down construction progress significantly.
Engineers involved in the project stated that the flyover could have become operational much earlier had the land acquisition process been completed sooner.
The project had attracted criticism from residents and commuters because of repeated deadline extensions, severe traffic congestion and prolonged diversion routes around the construction zone.
Major Relief Expected For Bengaluru Traffic
Once operational, the Ejipura flyover is expected to provide major relief for commuters travelling through key traffic corridors connecting Ejipura, Koramangala and nearby areas.
The corridor currently witnesses heavy congestion during peak hours, with motorists facing long delays due to narrow roads and ongoing construction activity.
Officials believe the opening of the flyover will significantly improve connectivity and reduce travel time across one of Bengaluru's busiest stretches.
With only limited structural work remaining, the anticipated October-end opening is now being viewed as a major milestone for Bengaluru's long-pending urban infrastructure projects.
