e-Khata Mela: 3,088 Property Owners Receive Digital Records in 24 Hours; RR Nagar Tops the List

The Karnataka state government is taking steps to digitise property records and provide them in an e-Khata format. The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has already begun accepting applications for e-Khatas within its jurisdiction, but the distribution has been less effective than anticipated. To address this, Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar inaugurated an e-Khata fair.

In the past 24 hours, BBMP distributed 3,088 final e-Khatas to property owners across eight zones. Among these, the RR Nagar zone saw the highest number of distributions. Overall, a total of 5.34 lakh e-Khatas have been issued in these zones. Despite efforts to raise awareness among property owners and citizens about obtaining e-Khatas, only 5.34 lakh out of the targeted 25 lakh have been distributed.

E-Khata Distribution by Zone

In Mahadevapura zone, which consists of six sub-divisions, 493 e-Khatas were distributed in the last day alone, bringing the total to 83,892. Meanwhile, Bengaluru South zone with twelve sub-divisions issued 432 e-Khatas in one day, reaching a cumulative total of 73,532.

Bengaluru West zone also comprises twelve sub-divisions and distributed 370 e-Khatas in a single day. This brings their total to 54,892 final e-Khatas handed over to citizens so far. Bommanahalli zone officials reported that they provided 447 individuals with e-Khatas in one day, totalling 87,070 recipients to date.

Dasarahalli zone saw only 174 people receiving their e-Khatas within the last day. This adds up to a total of 30,439 finalised e-Khatas distributed so far. Efforts continue to encourage more citizens to obtain their e-Khatas through awareness campaigns led by BBMP officials.

Efforts and Challenges

Bengaluru East zone has twelve sub-divisions and distributed 291 e-Khatas yesterday alone. This brings their overall total to 49,751 issued so far. In Yelahanka division with five sub-divisions, an additional 321 e-Khatas were handed out yesterday, making it a cumulative total of 71,055 finalised distributions.

Finally, Rajarajeshwari zone reported distributing 560 e-Khatas within the last day alone. The cumulative number of distributed e-Khatas in this area now stands at 84,041 according to BBMP officials.

The initiative aims to streamline property record management and improve accessibility for citizens through digital means. However, challenges remain as distribution numbers fall short of targets despite ongoing awareness efforts by BBMP authorities.
