Chikkamagaluru Bandh: Liquor Shops Closed For Two Days In 7 Taluks, Here's Why
In light of the Datta Mala Abhiyana and Mata Sati Ansuya Jayanti celebrations, Chikkamagaluru Deputy Commissioner Meena Nagaraj has ssued an order to close all liquor shops in several taluks of the district. The order covers Chikkamagaluru, Mudigere, Koppa, Sringeri, Narasimharajapura, Tarikere, and Kadur taluks and will be effective from 6 am on December 13 to 11 pm on December 14.
This directive also prohibits the transportation, storage, manufacture, supply, and sale of excisable goods such as liquor, beer, and spirits during this period. The measure has been enforced under Section 21 of the Karnataka Excise Act, 1965, to maintain law and order and ensure public peace.

The Anusuya Jayanti celebrations, which include a grand procession and Datta Jayanti programs from December 12 to December 14, are expected to draw large crowds. To avoid any untoward incidents, the district administration has mandated the closure of all types of liquor shops, including CL-2, 4, 6A, 7, 9, 11, and 14, except KSBCL outlets, in the specified areas.
The District Commissioner has urged citizens to cooperate with the authorities to ensure peaceful celebrations and public safety.
