Caught on Camera: Dutch YouTuber Allegedly Harassed By Local Trader in Bengaluru's Chickpet Market

A distressing incident unfolded in Bengaluru as a Dutch YouTuber claimed to have been harassed by a local trader near the Chickpet market area on Monday. The entire incident was captured on camera as the YouTuber, a Dutch citizen, named Pedro Mota was livestreaming the event for his video.

The video, which has since gone viral, shows the YouTuber being subjected to harassment by a man identified as a shopkeeper. In the footage, the Dutch YouTuber can be heard politely greeting the man with "Namaste, sir...", but the shopkeeper forcefully grabs his hand and begins shouting, "Ye kya hai... (What is this...)"

Sharing the video on YouTube, Madly Rover wrote,''Foreigner traveling in India experiences the thieves market in Bangalore, also known as the sunday market or chor bazaar. But exploring the area started out on the wrong foot as an angry man attacked me by grabbing and twisting my hand and arm, lunging after me as I tried to escape. After I had some street food, met great local Indian people and haggled for a new buttoned shirt.''

Although the incident reportedly occurred a few days ago, it gained attention after the video was shared online. Netizens expressed their disapproval and tagged Bengaluru Police, urging them to take action against the individual who attacked the person. They tweeted to ensure appropriate measures are taken against such misbehavior.

Several users also demanded that the police promptly take action against the offender and teach him a lesson.

According to reports, the Bengaluru Police have arrested a trader for misbehaving with a foreign national. The trader has been identified as Navab Hayath Sharif. The police has filed a case against him under Section 92 of the Karnataka Police Act, which prescribes punishment for "certain street offences and nuisance."
