Caught On Camera: Bengaluru Man Fined Rs 500 For Eating Gobi Manchurian In Metro
The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (BMRCL) has taken legal action for the first time against a passenger who was found eating 'Gobi Manchurian' in a metro coach.
BMRCL's regulations prohibit eating in the metro, but no passengers have been penalized for this before. However, a video of a passenger breaking this rule went viral, prompting BMRCL to enforce a fine of Rs. 500 on the individual.

The passenger shared a video on social media where he is shown laughing and eating snacks on the train. His friends criticize him for breaking the rules but he ignores them and continues to enjoy his snack. His friends filmed him eating Gobi Manchurian on the Metro, and when it gained attention, the police filed a report against him and his friends.
The authorities used CCTV footage to find and locate the person who violated the rules. They caught him as he got off at Jayanagar Metro station at 9.30 a.m. The passenger was then taken to the Jayanagar police station and fined Rs. 500.
Kumar also made a promise at the station, vowing not to engage in similar behaviour again, in addition to the fine.
Sunil Kumar, the offender, is employed at a well-known jewellery store Jayanagar. Nevertheless, every day the group takes the metro from Sampige Road Station in Malleswaram to commute to their workplace.
In an interview with The New Indian Express, A.S. Shankar, the Director of Operations and maintenance at BMRCL mentioned that such occurrences are uncommon since most metro commuters follow the rules. Along with the prohibition of eating, metro passengers are also advised to utilize headphones or earphones while on the metro to enjoy their content or music without causing disturbance.
