'Brand Bengaluru or Lawless City?': BJP Targets Congress After Late-Night Incident Caught on Video

In a recent incident that has stirred concerns over safety in Bengaluru, a video circulating on social media captured a biker forcibly stopping a car on a secluded road late at night, attempting to confront the couple inside. This event, recorded by the car's dashcam, has sparked a significant debate about the effectiveness of law enforcement in India's tech capital. The footage shows the biker threatening the couple, demanding they exit the vehicle, only to flee when passersby intervened, highlighting the quick escalation of such confrontations.

Vijayendra Yediyurappa, the BJP's state head in Karnataka, has voiced strong criticism against the Congress-led state government, citing this and similar incidents as evidence of Bengaluru's deteriorating safety under its governance. Through a post on X, Yediyurappa detailed an occurrence on the Kadubeesanahalli-Panathur road, emphasizing the lack of control over miscreants and the failure to uphold law and order. His remarks underscore a broader concern regarding the city's security, "The Congress government, which is saying that it is building Brand Bengaluru, has completely failed to maintain law and order at least. There are reports of miscreants intercepting common people in the middle of the road at night."

The BJP leader elaborated on the state's current security issues, stating that the past one and a half years have seen a surge in such unsettling events. He argued that these incidents are indicative of a broader breakdown in law and order and pointed to a series of corruption scandals and a lack of developmental initiatives as further evidence of the state government's shortcomings. This critique comes amidst reports of increased traffic chaos and environmental challenges in the city, further complicating the narrative around Bengaluru's governance.

The Marathahalli police, responding to the incident, have assured the public of their commitment to apprehending the biker involved. They advised the victims to file a formal complaint, highlighting the procedural steps necessary for legal recourse. This response from law enforcement reflects the growing need for active measures to ensure public safety and restore confidence among Bengaluru's residents.
