Bomb Threat In Bengaluru Schools: Misinformation Spreads Panic Among Parents

A wave of misinformation and rumors swept across Bengaluru on Friday, leading to panic among parents and disrupting school operations. The situation began when bomb threats were received by 44 schools in the city. Panic ensued as news of the threats spread, and parents of students at other schools rushed to pick up their children, fearing for their safety.

The bomb threats were initially sent via email to the 15 affected schools. The emails threatened that bombs had been planted on the school premises. The threats caused widespread alarm and prompted the deployment of bomb squads to the affected schools.

Social media platforms were flooded with rumors and speculation, and parents of students at schools that had not received bomb threats were also concerned.

As a result of the panic, many schools decided to close for the day or send students home early. This caused further disruption and inconvenience for parents and students.

The authorities have urged the public to remain calm and not to spread rumors. They have also advised parents to verify information before taking any action.

The threat was discovered when school staff accessed their email accounts and found the concerning message. Following this, the police force, along with bomb squads, initiated thorough inspections of the school premises.

    According to Bengaluru Police Commissioner B Dayananda, specialised bomb detection teams are conducting comprehensive searches of the school grounds.

    Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar paid a visit to one of the schools that had received the bomb threat and urged the public to remain calm and composed.

    "I became concerned and immediately stepped out. The threatening email was received by a school situated near my residence. After noticing the news reports, I came to inquire about the situation. I've had discussions with the police, and there's no need for alarm," stated Shivakumar.
