Bidar ATM Robbery: Video Shows Daylight Attack On SBI ATM Cash Refill Vehicle

On a typical day in Shivaji Chowk, Bidar, a tragic shooting incident occurred during broad daylight, leaving two individuals dead. The culprits attacked while an ATM was being refilled, leading to a dramatic theft. Amidst the bustle of the area, as a vehicle tasked with replenishing ATMs arrived, the attackers swiftly initiated gunfire. This brazen act of violence led to the immediate death of Giri Venkatesh, an employee of the CMS agency responsible for the task, marking a dark moment in the heart of Bidar.

The incident took a more violent turn when the assailants used pepper powder against those in the vehicle, creating a diversion to escape with a hefty sum of money. Following the fatal shooting of Giri Venkatesh, who was targeted during the refill operation, the criminals fled the scene on a motorcycle, leaving behind a scene of chaos and a community in shock. Despite the efforts of local citizens, who resorted to throwing stones in a desperate attempt to stop the attackers, the culprits managed to evade capture, their escape documented by a witness's mobile phone.

Giri Venkatesh fell victim to the attack after being shot five times by the bikers. The ambush, which involved the use of pepper powder before the shooting, led to Venkatesh's immediate death at the scene, highlighting the ruthlessness of the assault. Subsequently, Shivakumar, aged 26 and injured during the ordeal, was rushed to BIMS Hospital in Bidar. Despite medical efforts, Shivakumar succumbed to his injuries, further escalating the gravity of the incident.

The aftermath of the crime revealed that the vehicle targeted in the attack contained a significant amount of cash intended for the ATM. A total of Rs 87 lakh was reported to be in the vehicle, with Rs 5 lakh discovered abandoned at the crime scene, indicating that the attackers made off with approximately Rs 83 lakh. This substantial theft adds a financial dimension to the already heinous act, underscoring the audacity and planning behind the operation.

In response to the shocking event, the Bidar police have initiated a thorough investigation, focusing on tracking down the assailants. Efforts to trace the motorcycle used in the escape are underway, as the authorities aim to bring those responsible to justice.
