Bharat Bandh Bengaluru Fizzles Out: Normal Life Unaffected As BMTC, KSRTC, Schools Operate as Usual
The Bharat Bandh called by several central trade unions on July 9, 2025, had little to no impact on daily life in Bengaluru. Despite the nationwide strike backed by over 25 crore workers, public transport services in Karnataka's capital continued to function normally.

BMTC and KSRTC Buses Operating As Usual
Although some transport unions extended symbolic support to the Bharat Bandh, both the Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) and Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) reported no disruption in services. Bus schedules, frequencies, and routes remained unchanged, ensuring commuters faced no inconvenience on Wednesday morning.
Bengaluru Traffic Police Issues Advisory for Protest Near Freedom Park
Ahead of the protest, the Bengaluru Traffic Police (BTP) issued an advisory warning of potential congestion near Freedom Park, where an estimated 5,000 protesters gathered to raise their demands.
"A protest has been organised by various organisations at Freedom Park on July 9 at 8 a.m. Around 5,000 persons are expected to participate. As traffic congestion is likely in and around Freedom Park, people are hereby informed to use alternative routes," the BTP advisory read.
Minimal Disruption Despite Bharat Bandh
While the Bharat Bandh aimed to oppose certain labour policies introduced by the Centre, Bengaluru remained calm and mostly unaffected. Government offices, schools, private sector establishments, and emergency services operated as normal.
Commuters were advised to monitor real-time traffic updates, but as of noon, the city witnessed smooth movement across major junctions with no significant disruptions reported.
