Bengaluru Woman Apologises After Slipper Attack on Auto Driver Near Bellandur Signal, Says 'I Am Pregnant'
A woman who struck an auto driver with a slipper during a traffic dispute in Bengaluru has publicly apologised. The apology, made on Sunday in front of several witnesses and recorded on video, showed the woman expressing remorse with folded hands.
She said, "It wasn't intentional. I apologise. I am pregnant. Out of fear of a miscarriage, I spoke that way. I really like Bengaluru. We love Kannada. We love Kannadigas. We love Bengaluru and its culture very much," explaining her actions and appealing for forgiveness.

Alongside her husband, she was also made to apologise in Kannada, with onlookers guiding her pronunciation.

The incident occurred on Saturday near a traffic signal in Bellandur, southeastern Bengaluru, around 4 pm. According to the auto driver, Lokesh, the dispute started when the woman, riding a two-wheeler, tried to merge lanes from the left while his auto was on the right.
Lokesh said the woman accused him of hitting her vehicle, though no contact was made. Witnesses reported that she began shouting and verbally abusing him. When Lokesh tried to record the situation on his phone, she allegedly took off her slipper and struck him repeatedly, daring him to continue filming.

The incident was widely circulated online, sparking protests and an FIR filed by Lokesh. The woman, identified as Pankhuri Mishra, later appeared for questioning and claimed the driver behaved inappropriately, which led to her reaction. She also expressed affection for Bengaluru and its people during her apology.
